Google Chrome (or even better, Chromium) is a great browser.  One annoyance for me, though was the download bar. You download something, the file finishes, but the bar remains, forever, until you actually mouse over and close it.  There must be a faster way without having to move your hands from the keyboard. Fortunately there is!

There’s two ways for each OS.

For the OR methods, the number of buttons to the LEFT of your URL bar affects the # of times you press SHIFT-TAB (if you have just two buttons to the left of your URL bar, you’d press Shift-Tab 3 times):

Windows:
ALT-F, D, TAB, TAB, [RETURN], CTRL-W
OR
ALT-D, SHIFT-TAB 3 times, SPACEBAR

Mac:
CMD-SHIFT-J, TAB, TAB, [RETURN], CMD-W
OR
CMD-L, SHIFT-TAB 3 times, SPACEBAR

Seems tedious, but if you do it a couple times, it becomes second nature.
